Butt Augmentation 101: Everything You Need to Know

Butt Augmentation

Buttock augmentation is one of the fastest growing surgeries and one of our most recommended operations in 2017. With so many different options available to achieve the curves you want, we’ve put together a guide to everything you need to know about Butt Augmentation.

The Operation

There are several different options for butt augmentation depending on the needs of the patient. The most common request in our Nashville office are patients who want implants or a fat transfer.

The butt implant procedure begins with a vertical incision in the upper part of the gluteal fold. From here, the implants can be inserted and shaped. The size and shape of the implants are determined during your initial consultation.

Another contouring option is using fat tissue from your body and injecting it into your buttocks. This procedure begins with fat aspiration from an area of your body, which is filtrated and injected into the buttocks to create a rounder shape.

Expect Some Change in Shape

The results after having implants will be immediate, but if you choose to have fat transfers, it can take 6 – 12 months for the grafts to settle. Usually, 60% – 80% of the fat survives after a transfer, but that percentage could change with weight fluctuation. If you gain weight that percentage will increase, however with weight loss you could lose some volume in the buttocks. If you are currently trying to lose weight, it may be advisable to wait until you’ve achieved your goal.

The Healing Time for Implants is Longer Than Fat Transfers

Since the implant procedure is more involved surgically than having fat transferred, recovery time from implants will take longer. Sitting will be almost nonexistent for up to 3 weeks since you won’t be able to put much if any pressure on the buttocks. You can sleep face down or on your side, but you’ll need to limit the amount you are on your back. This is both for placement and comfort. Exercise will be nonexistent for 6 – 8 weeks, as your body needs to recover from the surgery.

Am I a Good Candidate for Butt Augmentation?

If you have always yearned for an hourglass figure, you may be a good candidate for buttock augmentation. This procedure can successfully give you the rounder, firmer backside that you’ve been coveting. Those with stretch marks, cellulite, and loose, hanging skin, also benefit from this type of procedure.

Because this kind of procedure is considered major surgery, a consultation with Dr. Marvel is required to discuss the desired results and prepare you for pre and post operation.

The Difference Between Injectables and Fat Transfers

Injeactables-Nashville-Cosmetic-Surgeon IGFine lines and wrinkles are a common issue for many men and women, but if you are considering a procedure to help restore your youthful appearance, you’ll more than likely be choosing between Injectables or Fat Transfers. We’ve decided to break down the differences to help you choose which option is right for you.

Injectables should technically be broken down into subcategories such as Botox or Fillers. Each performs slightly differently but achieves similar results. The biggest difference is that Botox paralyzes the muscles to help reduce wrinkles, crow’s feet, or frown lines etc., with results lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

Fillers are different as they are injected into the contours of your face not to paralyze, but to add volume or plump specific areas. The results from fillers are temporary like Botox but last up to year. There are various brands of fillers to choose from, so ask your doctor to walk through your best options.

Fat Transfers

Noninvasive fat transfers – or micro-lipoinjection – add volume to the skin in the face and hands, giving you a more rested, youthful appearance. Using your body’s own unwanted fat, the procedure can reduce crow’s feet, laugh lines and ridges that appear as a normal part of aging. Along with improving the skin’s appearance and reversing the signs of aging, fat transfers can also repair and reconstruct skin that’s been damaged by trauma or surgery.
