What is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?
Traditional Fractional Laser Resurfacing reduces layers of skin tissue in columns leaving the skin surrounding each column unimpaired to promote healing. The Fractional CO2 laser optimizes traditional CO2 treatments by introducing MicroAblative Columns (MACs) into the tissue while preserving untreated skin in between spots. This promotes rapid healing, minimal downtime, and long-term collagen remodeling while offering the patient comfort level and convenience that approaches non-ablative resurfacing. Unlike traditional CO2 laser resurfacing, fractional resurfacing can be used on the neck, chest, and hands to minimize wrinkles, sun damage, and age spots.
How Does CO2 Laser Resurfacing Work?
Each treatment can be tailored to the specific needs of the patient. With our advanced fractional technology, the treating technician will have the ability to perform procedures that are within the patients allotted downtime and accurately predict the results.
The Fractional Scanner directs a grid pattern of tiny pulses of light at your skin. Each pulse delivers a column of energy that can reach the skin’s dermal layer. This stimulates a natural renewal process of the body’s collagen. And because the laser beam has been fractionalized, small areas of untreated skin will be left between the treated spots, accelerating the healing process.
Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing can effectively improve the following:
- Skin texture irregularities
- Pigmented lesions
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Sun damage
- Overall tissue slackening
The Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing system is FDA-approved to treat a broad range of dermatologic indications. A complete face can be resurfaced in approximately 15 minutes using a topical anesthetic and a cold air chiller. Laser energy penetrates through the epidermal layer of tissue into the subdermal tissue. Also, the heat stimulates and realigns collagen in the subdermal region.
