Hair Transplant: Options
A hair transplant procedure takes hairs from donor sites, such as the sides and back of the head, and places them in areas of hair loss, which is typically the top of the head. These newly transplanted hairs will grow just like they would have in the donor areas, giving you a natural and more youthful result.
Many of our Nashville and Middle Tennessee patients are concerned with having a “pluggy” appearance following their hair transplant procedure, but we can assure you that this is not the case. And you can see the results for yourself in our hair transplant before and after pictures. To set up a consultation with Dr. Marvel or to inquire about specific hair transplant prices, please give us a call today.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Hair Transplant?
As with any cosmetic procedure, there are a number of factors to consider in determining if you are a good candidate for a hair transplant. Some of the questions Dr. Jeffrey Marvel might ask during your initial consultation include:
- Are you in good health?
- Do you have any bleeding or healing disorders?
- What is your ultimate cosmetic goal?
Other factors to take into consideration are your age and level of hair loss, as well as the quantity and quality of your donor hair. If you are a resident of Nashville or Middle Tennessee and you’d like to learn more about hair transplant surgery, please give us a call today.
Hair Transplant – What to Expect
The first step in the hair transplant procedure is to prepare the donor area, meaning that the hair will be lifted and then a strip of hair will be trimmed. Your surgeon will apply anesthesia to the top of the head where the hairs will be implanted.
Dr. Marvel will then stitch the hairs from above and below together, creating a design in your hairline that will look as natural as possible. The stitches will be covered by your hair, and then removed in about 10 days.
After your hair transplant procedure, you can resume normal daily activities in one to two days. Dr. Marvel will give you specific aftercare instructions, including special medicine and shampoo. In about four weeks, your transplanted grafts will begin to shed, making way for permanent hair growth. This is visible in about eight to 12 weeks. Full hair growth is present in about nine months to a year
