My Favorite Procedure

As a cosmetic surgeon in practice for nearly 30 years, I have found rhinoplasty to be my favorite operation.  Hardly any surgery gives patients more satisfaction than a well planned and executed rhinoplasty procedure.

This procedure is something they and everyone else sees every day for the rest of their lives.  So the stakes are high.  Sometimes the slightest alterations, which are preferable to drastic changes,  can make the biggest impact and produce safer more reliable results.  My favorite cases in particular are young female patients who are very attractive but feel self- conscious about their nose.  One frequent comment I get a lot is “I got my daddy’s nose!”  Often times they do not have a feminine nose to match their face.  When the nose fits in harmony to the face one can appreciate the overall beauty of the face, rather than the eye being drawn to a flawed feature like a large nasal hump.  From the surgeons stand-point, the rhinoplasty procedure is a life-long learning procedure.  It is the most difficult surgery to master.  When I get the result that I am striving for, and have a happy patient, then it makes all the hard work and years of study worth it all.

5 Reasons to Consider a Nose Job

Do you struggle with chronic congestion?

Is it hard to breathe easily?

Do you wish that your nose was smaller? Straighter?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you may be an ideal candidate for rhinoplasty or a “nose job.”

People opt for a nose job for a variety of reasons, some of which are primarily medical and others are primarily cosmetic.

Read on to find out 5 reasons to consider a nose job as you research if rhinoplasty is the right procedure for you.

1.You have a deviated septum.

The septum is a wall of cartilage between the two nostrils and divides the nasal cavity in half. An ideal septum is centered in the nose and creates an even passageway on both the left and right side. A deviated septum, which occurs when the septum shifts away from the midline, can cause cosmetic problems, as well as issues with breathing.

Rhinoplasty can help correct this. You’ll both look better and feel better as correcting a deviated septum will restore visual symmetry and improve breathing.

2.You’ve injured your nose.

Following an accident or trauma that causes facial injury, your nose may not heal properly. The shape may be altered, or you may have trouble breathing.

Rhinoplasty, in this case, may serve two purposes: to return your appearance to your pre-accident look and to restore health.

3. You have a crooked or larger nose, a bump, a hook, or another unwanted characteristic.

Simply put, if you don’t like what you see in the mirror, a nose job can help! If you’d like a nose that’s slimmer, smoother, or smaller, then you may be a great candidate for rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty can correct all sorts of cosmetic concerns, such as a bump, a hook, a wide nose, a thick or bulbous tip, nostril size and position, nasal asymmetry, and nose size in relation to face size and shape.

4.You’ve had facial or nasal surgery for an unrelated issue (such as skin cancer removal)

A nose job was never on your radar—until now.

If you’ve had surgery to your face, nose, or upper lip for a different reason (such as skin cancer removal), the appearance and function of your nose could be impacted. Rhinoplasty can be critical in reshaping or reconstructing the nose and restoring both your appearance and health completely following these types of procedures.

5. You’re just not happy with your nose and the way it appears on your face

A primary goal of rhinoplasty is to achieve a revised version of a nose that beautifully complements each patient’s unique facial features and beauty. If you’re looking for a natural update that will enhance your overall appearance, a nose job may be the perfect procedure for you.

Is Rhinoplasty Right for You?

Marvel Cosmetic. Rhinoplasty

Front and center, your nose plays an important role in your appearance and how you feel about yourself. If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your nose, or if you feel it simply doesn’t “fit” with your face, you’re not alone. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, rhinoplasty is among the top five most popular invasive cosmetic surgical procedures.

So, is rhinoplasty right for you? When performed by a skilled, qualified cosmetic surgeon, rhinoplasty, more commonly referred to as a “nose job,” can have a significant positive impact on your appearance and health.

Here are some of the most common reasons people choose to have rhinoplasty. A nose job may be right for you if any of these sounds like your situation.

You have breathing issues.

Sometimes a medical issue with your nose can also cause a cosmetic issue. If you struggle with chronic congestion or have trouble breathing, consider the possibility that you may have a deviated septum (which can cause a structural nasal problem that may also create a misshapen nose).

The septum is a wall of cartilage between your two nostrils, and it divides the nasal cavity in half. An ideal septum is centered in the nose and creates an even passageway on both the left and right side. A deviated septum, which occurs when the septum shifts away from the midline, can cause cosmetic problems as well as issues with breathing. Rhinoplasty can help correct this, which will help you breathe normally and give you a beautiful, smooth profile.

You have a crooked or larger nose, a bump, a hook, or another unsightly characteristic.

If you’ve ever wished that your nose was smaller or straighter and never thought it looked quite proportional to the rest of your face, then you may be a great candidate for rhinoplasty. The procedure can correct all sorts of cosmetic concerns, such as a bump, a hook, a wide nose, a thick or bulbous tip, or nostril size and position. Rhinoplasty can also help with any cosmetic issues that result from injury or trauma.

You’re not happy with your appearance, and you want a nose that’s a better complement to your face.

Even though a nose job won’t result in “perfection,” the procedure will give you a beautiful revision that will be a lovely addition to your face. Your nose job will be unique to your situation, your face, and the goals for your procedure. Rhinoplasty is designed to enhance your true beauty with an end result that looks natural alongside your unique facial features.

We at Marvel Cosmetic are excited to help you achieve the look you’ve been dreaming of, which may also alleviate breathing problems, chronic congestion issues, or help alleviate pain sustained in an accident. Whatever the reason you’re interested in rhinoplasty, we can help!

Cosmetic Procedures for Men

Best Cosmetic Procedures for Men

No one wants to accept how aging affects our appearance. It’s disappointing to look in the mirror and see someone who looks older than we actually are or feel. These insecurities don’t just apply to women; men also suffer. The number of men opting for cosmetic procedures is rising. In honor of Men’s National Health Month, here are cosmetic procedures we recommend for men.

Chest

If you suffer from excess skin and fat in the chest, breast reduction surgery could help. It’s quite common for skin to lose its elasticity over time. With excess fat, the tissue can become saggy and may lead to a feminizing appearance of the chest. With breast reduction surgery, the excess skin is removed and tightened. The procedure is not only permanent but can have you back to work in no time.

Stomach

If your efforts at the gym aren’t yielding the results you desire, liposuction or a tummy tuck may be an option for you. Liposuction or SlimLipo targets excess fat in the body and reduces it from hard to reach places, even delicate areas such as around the arm or thighs.

If you are looking to remove larger areas of fat and skin from the waistline, a tummy tuck is a possible solution. This procedure is more in depth and requires more shaping and sculpting, giving you a smaller, more defined waist. It is usually completed in conjunction with some form of liposuction.

*Note: This procedure is ideal for those who have difficulty with trouble spots and should not be considered a weight loss method.

Nose

Rhinoplasty can help reshape your nose for structural or aesthetic purposes. In most cases, the size of the nose can throw off the balance of the whole face. A nose job addresses many cosmetic issues, such as shape and size, to create a harmonious balance. This surgery requires anesthesia, then the doctor will make small incisions inside the nose and sculpt to the appropriate shape. In most cases, the patient’s recovery time is very short, and the results are permanent.

Eyes

A combination of genetics and exposure to the sun can leave your eyes looking tired and makes the skin start to sag. With eyelid surgery, you can quickly achieve a more rejuvenated appearance. This procedure removes excess skin and fat from around the eyes, which will brighten your appearance. The best news is the results are permanent.

If you suffer from under-eye bags or hollows, injections or fillers might be a good option. This process is pretty easy and relatively painless but will require some maintenance.

Face

Sagging skin around the neck can be uncomfortable and can also create an illusion of being heavier than you actually are. If this is an area of concern, a facelift might be the right procedure for you. Facelifts reduces excess skin and fat to give you a firmer, more defined jawline. This process can add years to your appearance and boost confidence. The amount of improvement varies from patient to patient but usually only needs one session to complete. Pain and scarring are minimal with little recovery time after.
