Slowing the Results of Aging with Prejuvenation

Increasingly, younger women are slowing the results of aging with prejuvenation procedures that have become standard aspects of their beauty routines.

When it comes to beauty and overall well being, why wait for the signs of age to take over? It’s better to be proactive and offensive when it comes to stopping the effects of time on your face in the form of wrinkles, creases, crows’ feet, and laugh lines.

How can you prevent the results of aging? What are some procedures you could add to your regimen that would help you keep your youthful appearance?

Let’s take a look at prejuvenation procedures and how they can help you.

Top Prejuvenation Procedures

Most common among the prejuvenation procedures are injectables and fillers. These are non-surgical treatments that provide a youthful look without the cost and downtime of invasive surgery.

It is estimated that over one million men and women annually use injectables and dermal fillers, and many of these users are younger adults who are aiming to prevent aging.

Injectables and dermal fillers lessen the effects of aging skin by:

  • restoring volume around hollowed areas,
  • restoring the contours and smoothness of the face,
  • providing volume and lift to problem areas by smoothing out wrinkles,
  • plumping flat lips, and
  • correcting hollowed skin areas.

There are two types of injectables, those that relax facial muscles and thereby mend facial lines and dermal fillers that plump out wrinkles. Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin to correct the wrinkle, depression or fold; the filler can be either naturally derived or a synthetic material.

Here’s a brief look at what we offer to patients who are interested in prejuvenation at Marvel Cosmetic.

Injectables

Botox is derived from a family of neurotoxins that relax facial muscles. By temporarily paralyzing muscles it can remove wrinkles cosmetically such as those above the eyebrows on the forehead also called frown lines, lines that form around the corners of eyes, and other facial wrinkles.

Dysport is very similar to Botox as it is from the same family of neurotoxins. With a different formulation, Dysport spreads to a wider area. The onset of Dysport is 2-5 days compared to 4-7 for Botox. There are some reports that results may not last as long as Botox, but this is still being studied.

Fillers

Juvederm: A family of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. An injection corrects moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles and lasts nine months to one year.

Restylane:  A line of hyaluronic acid fillers that provide natural-looking results by smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.  Providing subtle lip enhancement and smoothing the lines, adding lift and volume to the cheeks.

Voluma: Voluma is also based on hyaluronic acid and used to treat the middle of the face including the nose and associated bony structures. As an HA filler, after injection, it can be shaped and molded into the desired contour. Voluma can last up to two years, almost twice as long as other fillers.

Kybella: The only FDA approved treatment to improve the appearance of extra fat below the chin, commonly known as a “double chin.” The active ingredient is based on a component the body makes for absorbing fat cells and is injected into the affected area of the chin.

Bellafill: A dermal filler that is meant to be a semi-permanent solution for wrinkles by restoring volume and fullness to the skin.  Approved since October 2006 for the treatment of nasolabial fold, commonly know as “smile lines” or “laugh lines,” it is also used for acne scars, and smoothing wrinkles.

Prevention Is The Key to Youthful Skin

Doctors have emphasized the importance of healthy habits in maintaining beautiful, youthful skin: sun protection, healthy diet, and not smoking. These mandates should be a “given,” especially when it comes to preventing wrinkled, creased, and aging skin.

Prejuvenation techniques, such as regular use of injectables and fillers begun before the signs of aging appear, can be an important partner in the war against the effects of time.

New Year, New You! Why 2019 is Your Year for Cosmetic Surgery

New Year, New You! Why 2019 is Your Year for Cosmetic Surgery

The new year is almost here, and we are looking forward to working with new patients and helping them achieve their goals. Our patients mean a lot to us, so we take time to understand their goals and to go above and beyond to create a treatment plan that will work specifically for them.

You would be surprised at the number of patients who wonder why it took them so long to pursue their procedure after they see their amazing results! There are many reasons why people delay treatment, so allow us to tell you why we believe 2019 is the best year for your cosmetic surgery!

Common Misbeliefs About Cosmetic Surgery

Here are the most common reasons we hear of why patients put off surgery:

  • Afraid the results won’t look natural
  • Being concerned they are too old
  • Not sure if it’s affordable
  • Wanting to achieve their goals without going under the knife
  • The safety of the procedures

Today with all the technology at our disposal doctors can provide patients with more tailored and natural looking results. In short, there hasn’t been a better time to consider cosmetic surgery!

Non-Invasive Procedures

One particular advancement that is revolutionizing the way cosmetic procedures are done in 2019 is the use of lasers.

Lasers enhance the epidermis in many ways. They tighten tissue, remove blemishes, reduce wrinkles, and give the skin a youthful appearance. Additionally, lasers are more targeted, so the precision is astonishing compared to what was offered just five years ago. What that means for you is the ability to get fantastic, natural results with less recovery time and light anesthesia.

Injections Offer More Options

The new year is all about a new you and if you want to improve the appearance of your skin by eliminating fine lines, wrinkles, and furrow lines, you no longer have to go under the knife! A treatment plan of injections can not only improve skin’s appearance but work as a preventative treatment to slow down the effects of aging. Through the use of fillers and Botox, patients can achieve a natural, youthful glow. If utilized appropriately, your treatment plan can also slow down the signs of aging.

Breast Augmentation Has More Options

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the leading cosmetic procedures in the United States and will continue to be one of our most requested in 2019. Over the years, implant options have expanded, giving patients more customization over the final appearance and feel of the implant. While saline and silicone remain two of the most popular, the market is continuing to expand with a third option. “Gummy Bear” implants are a new product that mimics the natural contours of the breast with an emphasis of fullness on the bottom.

Don’t want implants? There’s an option for that as well! Fat transfers utilize the body’s fat to add volume without relying on an implant of any kind. This technique is perfect for women who are wanting a subtle increase in volume with an minimal scarring.

At Marvel Cosmetic Surgery, we are committed to delivering the most advanced techniques and procedures to give our patients the best possible results. Our board-certified doctors are updating their expertise with continued education and providing procedures that are unique, customizable, safe, and yield natural-looking results. 5 Things You Need to Know about CO2 Skin Resurfacing

Laser treatments are designed to help manage various skin conditions and improve the skin’s surface quality. If you're interested in reducing the signs of aging and improving the appearance of scars, read on for more information about our CO2 laser treatment.

At Marvel Cosmetic Surgery, we pride ourselves in providing our patients with quality care. One way we do this by offering the latest treatments so our patients experience incredible results. Laser treatments have made several advancements over the years, but many people have yet to experience them.

Laser treatments are designed to help manage various skin conditions and improve the skin’s surface quality. If you’re interested in reducing the signs of aging and improving the appearance of scars, read on for more information about our CO2 laser treatment.

1.When to Get a Laser Treatment

The time of year you schedule a laser treatment is important because when your skin comes into contact with a laser, it becomes more sensitive to UVA and UVB rays. Getting your laser treatments in the fall ensures your skin will have limited exposure to the sun because you spend more time indoors. It’s also recommended that you wear SPF 30 after the procedure, regardless the time of year.

2. Choose a Highly-trained Physician for the Best Results

Laser resurfacing is a safe way to reduce scarring and improve skin tone. However, you don’t want to trust just anyone. Choose a professional who is knowledgeable about the process to ensure your results will be a dramatic improvement.  Working with someone who is poorly trained could result in unnecessary pain and damage to the skin. When choosing a doctor, only consider working with someone who is board certified.

3. Medications Can Affect Results

Transparency about health issues or conditions is the best way to ensure you get the most from your CO2 laser treatment. Particular medications and supplements can have an impact on how you recover.

Acne medications that contain Accutane can cause your skin to heal poorly and encourage scarring. Regular use of aspirin can cause excess bleeding post procedure. Conditions like recurring cold sores are worth mentioning because it’s possible that you might experience a breakout. Diabetes and other chronic conditions should be addressed so your doctor can analyze how they might affect your results or healing capabilities.

4. Your Skin May or May Not be Tender

Everyone will experience a different sensation while undergoing a laser treatment. However, most doctors and patients compare it to a rubber band snapping against the skin. The CO2 laser penetrates the skin on a much deeper level than other lasers. When you are meeting with your physician at your consultation, you can discuss ways to minimize discomfort.

5. A CO2 laser has Different Advantages than Other Lasers

Not all lasers are created equal. A CO2 laser penetrates the epidermis more deeply. It has the capabilities to:

Resurface Skin

The CO2 will gently vaporize the outer layer of the skin, reducing and in some instances eliminating sun-damage and acne scarring. It can also blend out fine lines and wrinkles to reveal smooth, fresh skin. The precision of the laser also gives your physician control over the application. You should see amazing results in just four to six weeks.

Rejuvenate Hands

Many times, our hands will give away our age before our face does. CO2 laser treatments can help achieve smoother, younger looking skin in just a few visits. By combining the laser with other effective treatments, such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion, you can effectively remove sun spots, wrinkles, or other blemishes to restore volume and create a youthful appearance.

Feminine Rejuvenation

Feminine rejuvenation is an excellent option for women who have given birth or are experiencing incontinence. The CO2 laser safely tightens and strengthens, while stimulating the production of collagen. As the new skin cells formulate, the tissue will become smoother and healthier. The treatment can also help stop unwanted secretions, increase blood flow, and sensitivity.

Discover more benefits of the CO2 laser by booking an appointment with one of our highly-trained physicians by calling 615-329-3900.

6 Ways Your Skin Benefits from Botox and Fillers

6 Ways Your Skin Benefits from Botox and Fillers

There are many reasons why Botox and fillers are popular cosmetic treatments. One reason is that they help individuals improve aspects of their skin that would be otherwise untreatable. While these procedures have been around many years, there is still confusion as to what they can do for you. We’ve put together everything you need to know about Botox and fillers and how they benefit the skin.

The Difference Between Botox and Fillers

Before we dive into the benefits, we should clarify the difference between Botox and fillers. While each have incredible benefits for the skin, they also have different characteristics and uses.

Injectables

Injectables is the umbrella term used for both Botox and fillers, as they each apply a product directly under the skin and muscle via a syringe to reduce the signs of aging.

Botox

Botox is the name of a brand, and there are similar brands such as Dysport on the market as well. Botox works by using Botulinum toxins, which are injected directly into the facial muscle in order to restrict muscle movement. Deeply etched lines in the face, often created by intense concentration or constant furrowing, will smooth out with regular use.

Fillers

Fillers differ from Botox because they are injected into the contours of your face, not to paralyze, but to add volume or plump specific areas. Some fillers are made with hyaluronic acid which fills in wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body naturally produces to keep skin plump and hydrated. Fillers can also use fat from your body.

The Benefits of Injectables

Add Volume to Your Face

If you want to add volume to your face, fillers are a perfect choice. The best areas to target are under the eyes, thinned cheeks, and lips. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance, so it is ideal for anyone who suffers from severe allergy problems.

Get a Youthful Glow

As we already mentioned, Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally forming substance in the body. By adding this to the skin, you improve not just volume but the appearance. Hyaluronic acid has been noted for improving the overall condition and adding a youthful glow.

You’ll See Immediate Results

One way your skin benefits from Botox or fillers is the immediacy of the results. It only takes one session for you to notice the difference. However, the best results are achieved over time through the implementation of a treatment plan.

The Effects Are Long-Lasting

When you use a product like Botox or a similar brand, you aren’t working on the lines that are already visible but reducing the chances of developing new ones. In most cases, patients will start a treatment plan and then eventually taper off the number of injections they need.

Eliminate the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Botox is for those who are experiencing wrinkles in places where they hold a lot of tension; think frown lines, furrowed brows, etc. By freezing the muscles in these areas, you prevent deeper lines forming.

Improves Tension Headaches

This one isn’t about skin, but it helps so many individuals we wanted to give it a special mention. Botox is being used to treat patients with headaches. When injected into the muscles of the forehead, neck, and shoulders, it can release built-up tension, therefore, lessening the strain on the nervous system.

Your Guide to Flawless Summer Skin

Your Guide to Flawless Summer Skin

Summer is here and that means many of us spend more time outside than in, due to our constant activities or vacations. During these months, many women choose to wear less makeup as they lounge by the pool or relax at the beach. If you are looking for ways to improve the appearance of your skin so you can feel more confident going au naturel too, we’ve highlighted some of the best treatments at Marvel Cosmetic Surgery.

Hyaluronic Enhancer

Hyaluronic acid is an amazing product that makes your skin look younger, fresher, and more subtle. Overall, it’s a skincare superstar and is found naturally in your body. Although the name says acid, it’s not. It’s actually a sugar molecule found in the body that holds almost a thousand times its weight in water. The result is plumper, fresher looking skin. As a facial treatment, it has the ability to smooth out skin and add volume. If you’re looking to obtain natural, dewy skin Hyaluronic Enhancer is a fantastic option.

Botox

Combating fine lines and wrinkles is possible with Botox. Botox is derived from neurotoxins that relax facial muscles. The process encourages patients to limit movements that enhance age lines like furrowing or frowning. What it does not do is add volume to the skin. Instead, it focuses on eliminating wrinkles cosmetically around the eyebrows, mouth, and forehead. The results provide patients with a more youthful complexion.

O2 Lift

An interest in a spa-like experience is completed with the O2 Lift Facial. This facial is a multi-step treatment that infuses oxygen, stem cells, peptides, and a high concentration of botanicals that are designed to exfoliate, illuminate, and oxygenate. The process is safe and great for all skin types. The products used are free from acid and sulfates and work to balance out the skin’s pH leaving you with nothing to the softest and most radiant skin.

Fillers

Fillers are similar to Botox as they are injected into different areas of the face. But while Botox eliminates lines by relaxing the muscles, fillers work to add volume to the skin. The perfect candidate for fillers will have a noticeable loss of volume around the mouth, eyes, jaw, and cheeks. There are a variety of fillers available that provide patients with the youthful, glowing skin they desire. The best part is the utilization of Hyaluronic Acid. Because it’s naturally found in the body, these fillers will work well with almost everyone.

Intense Pulse Light Facial Rejuvenation (IPL)

IPL Facials are designed to improve the appearance of photo-aged skin on both the face and body. It treats broken capillaries and age spots for a smoother looking skin. Additionally, it can reduce the appearance of redness, correct skin pigmentation and irregularities. The treatment uses emissions from high-intensity lasers to treat deep within the dermis. These lasers are filled with plasma and destroy skin cells that may be damaged. It will also induce a natural healing process.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a popular treatment that eliminates dead skin cells but stimulates cell growth. Many patients use it to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, large pores, and other imperfections. It’s a non-invasive procedure which means there are no incisions or scarring. Microdermabrasion is perfect for anyone who is looking to get rid of age spots, sun damage, acne, scares, or hyper-pigmentation. By exfoliating the skin and stimulating collagen production, your skin looks healthier and more rejuvenated.

Protecting Your Skin

The best way to protect your skin is to use sunscreen every day to reduce the chances of getting sun damage or wrinkles. You should apply it under your makeup and wear it regardless of how much sun you plan on getting that day. Even when you drive or sit next to your office window, you are subjecting your face’s delicate cells to UVA and UVB lights that in high doses accelerate aging and sometimes cause cancer.

Additionally, never underestimate the power of water. Your 8 glasses a day are a natural way to remove toxins from your body that can cause your skin to look dull. Try to swap your cokes and coffee with a glass of water as often as you can to keep skin looking youthful.

10 Ways to Combat Fine Lines and Wrinkles

10 Ways to Combat Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Aging is a natural process, and despite our best efforts fine lines and wrinkles will eventually start to appear. At Marvel Cosmetic Surgery, we are well-versed in the best practices available to help reduce the signs of aging, so you and your skin feel supple and fresh. Below are our top ten tips to achieve that youthful glow!

1. Sunscreen and Face Wash

One of the best ways to protect your skin from external damage is by applying sunscreen daily. Collagen isn’t just lost in the aging process. Free radicals from pollution and routine exposure to the sun will also deplete collagen and slow the process of new collagen forming. So, it’s important to practice a healthy skin care routine with a face wash that draws out impurities without drying the skin. Wearing sunscreen gives the additional protection from further damage to production. When buying sunscreen look for 15SPF – 30SPF, because anything lower or higher won’t be helpful.

2. Vitamin C Peel

Vitamin C is one of the best-known defenses against free radicals. The vitamin is used in every part of the collagen process making it a critical component of boosting collagen. A Vitamin C peel is an option for anyone who suffers from fine lines and wrinkles because it deeply cleanses the pores and gently resurfacing the skin to diminish the appearance of aging. The acid found in Vitamin C also works as a bleaching agent, which can help restore imbalanced skin tone and help fade blemishes.

3. Botox

Botox is widely known for its use to reduce the signs of aging. With a few quick injections, deep lines between brows, crow’s feet, and laugh lines are all reduced in appearance.

Botox works by using Botulinum toxins, which are injected directly into the facial muscle to restrict muscle movement. Deeply etched lines in the face, often created by intense concentration or constant furrowing, will smooth out with regular use. Regular Botox treatments mean preventing new creases from forming while smoothing out the appearance of what you already have.

4. Fish Oil

Omega-3 is a substance that is not produced naturally by the body, which means we have to supplement or incorporate Omega-3 rich foods like fish oil into our diets. There are numerous benefits to upping your intake such as:

  • Decreasing inflammation
  • Healthier Hair
  • Better moods
  • Healthier Heart
  • Improved brain function

Regarding healthy skin, fish oil nourishes the skin with fats and provides vitamins to keep the skin smooth and elastic. This helps to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and prevent skin from sagging.

5. Drink Plenty of Water

Your skin is your largest organ but is usually the last to receive nutrients. Keeping it hydrated by drinking water keeps the skin looking plump and full. It should be noted that there is a difference between having dry or dehydrated skin. Dry skin is a condition you’re born with, and you know it pertains to you because other areas of your body (hands, feet, scalp) are also dry. Dehydrated skin appears when your water intake is low. Either way, your entire body will benefit from an increase of water, by flushing out toxins and plumping up your skin.

6. Fillers

Fillers differ from Botox because they are injected into the contours of your face, not to paralyze, but to add volume or plump specific areas.

Made with hyaluronic acid fillers smooth out wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body naturally produces to keep skin plump and hydrated. Since it already occurs in the body, these fillers are less likely to cause an allergic reaction. The filler itself has a gel-like consistency that is injected into the skin to smooth fine lines. These particular fillers can last from 6 to 12 months before being absorbed. Brands such as Juvederm, Juvederm Voluma, and Restylane are all options for those who are interested in the Hyaluronic Acid option.

7. Fat Transfers

Noninvasive fat transfers – or micro-lipo injection – add volume to the skin in the face and hands, giving you a more rested, youthful appearance. By using your body’s unwanted fat, the procedure reduces crow’s feet, laugh lines and ridges that appear as a normal part of aging. Along with improving the skin’s appearance and reversing the signs of aging, fat transfers can also repair and reconstruct skin damaged by trauma or surgery.

8. Deep Condition

Protecting yourself from dryness will eliminate red, flaky skin that highlights fine lines and wrinkles. It’s highly recommended to deep condition your skin a few times a week to continue to look fresh. You can choose between a lotion or a cream. A lotion is water-based and a little lighter for those who are on the oiler side. A cream is excellent for individuals with naturally dry and flaky skin.

9. Bone Broth

Bone broth or “stock,” is a process in which tendons, ligaments, bones, and cartilage are heated in water for a period eventually releasing healing compounds like collagen, glycine, glutamine and many others. By incorporating bone broth into your diet, you are providing your body with extra collagen that it doesn’t have to produce and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

10. CO2 Laser

CO2 laser is the latest technology for skin resurfacing. It’s designed to help remove wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks. The laser works by gently vaporizing the outer layer of sun-damaged or acne scarring to reveal smooth, fresh new skin underneath. Similarly, the laser works to phase out fine lines and wrinkles. The procedure gives your physician control over the application. Recovery time lasts about two weeks and works best for lighter skin tones.

When Should I Consider a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover isn’t one product, but a package of services customizable for each person. The idea is to give mothers an opportunity to restore and reshape areas of their body post-baby. Because of its flexibility, women can add and subtract various surgeries and procedures to tailor the package to their needs, but with so many options available, how do you know which is right for you? We’ve addressed the most common options our clients request when putting together their Mommy Makeover, their benefits, and how you know you are ready!

You Want to Define Curves

For those who are looking to lose weight in the tummy, hips, and thighs, there are liposuction treatments that will get you back to your pre-pregnancy body.

Liposuction

Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty and body contouring surgery, is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses suction to remove excess fat deposits from the skin and muscle. This procedure works well on stubborn fat deposits. Read more about Liposuction

SlimLipo™

SlimLipo™ is a liposuction technique that uses laser wavelengths to dissolve fat. And unlike traditional liposuction, there is no need for general anesthesia and extensive downtime. With a few tiny incisions, this laser gently “melts” fat for quick and permanent results. Since the lasers stimulate skin cells into producing collagen and elastin, you can also tighten up the skin;

Special note: Liposuction treatments aren’t a form of weight loss. The right candidate for liposuction has lost most of the baby weight before they undergo surgery. Fat cells are easily reproduced by the body, so you want to be as close to your ideal weight as possible. Read more about SlimLipo™

Tummy Tucks

Tummy tucks are also quite popular and will help dramatically improve your stomach’s appearance by reducing excess fat, skin, and tissue. You can also use this procedure to repair any abdominal separation. You can choose between two options. A Mini Tummy Tuck focuses on the lower abdomen by tightening the muscles and reducing loose skin. This surgical procedure flattens the look of the belly, but with less invasive techniques than a standard tummy tuck. A standard Tummy Tuck focuses on a larger area of the torso. Your doctor can help you decide the best option. Read more about Tummy Tucks

You Want to Restore Lost Breast Volume

If breastfeeding has left you with noticeably thinner or saggy breasts, you have a couple of options to restore lost volume. While you can breastfeed if you have implants, we don’t recommend nursing mothers to undergo surgery.

Breast Lift

A breast lift can help repair and reshape your breasts without the need for implants. Depending on the amount repair required, an incision around the areola or down the breast allows for skin to be tightened and the nipple to be raised. This procedure will help restore your breast to a more youthful position. If a more dramatic look is favored, a breast augmentation can also be a good option to give volume and lift to the chest. Read more about Breast Lift

Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is another option to restore lost breast volume. Implants can help to balance your figure, boost your confidence and restore volume to your chest. Breast augmentation is a major surgery that does require some recovery time. There are many different sizes, shapes, and fillers available which allows each client to customize the look. Deciding on what shape and size to go with is best discussed in your consultation, just bring along some pictures. Read more about Breast Augmentation

You’re Ready to Smooth Out Lines

Late nights can leave you with noticeable lines around the face and eyes. There are facials, injections, and skin-resurfacing treatments that will help.

Botox®

Botox® works by using Botulinum toxins, which are injected directly into the facial muscle to restrict muscle movement. Deeply etched lines in the face, often created by intense concentration or constant furrowing, will smooth out with regular use. Regular Botox treatments mean preventing new creases from forming while smoothing out the appearance of what you already have. Read more about Botox®

Fillers

Fillers are made with hyaluronic acid which is injected into the face to smooth wrinkles. Read more about Fillers

Regardless of the option you choose, the procedure is non-invasive, which means you can start a treatment plan soon after giving birth.

Skin Care for Your Twenties, Thirties, and Forties

The Best Skin Care for Your Twenties, Thirties, and Forties

Skincare is incredibly important, no matter what your age. Developing a great skincare routine early on will set you up for success as the years start to tick by. Each generation needs different products according to their skin’s need, but far too often we see clients using the same products they did when they were teenagers. Below we’ve listed everything you need to know to keep your skin healthy and fresh at any age!

For your Twenties

What you should focus on: In your twenties, you should spend time developing a skincare routine that will keep you hydrated and protect you from skin damage. Try to increase your water intake. Water is the body’s best detoxifier and getting into a habit of drinking plenty of it will mean your skin will look healthy and fresh no matter your age. Also, you’ll want to invest in sunscreen for your face. This habit is one you want to start now to protect you from premature wrinkles and sunspots.

What you should avoid: The worst thing you can do in your twenties is making a habit of sleeping in your makeup. Most twenty-year-olds are in school or working their first career job and regardless of how late or tired, a good cleansing habit will keep your skin free from bacteria. Fortunately, in your twenties, your skin is still producing higher levels of collagen which means you don’t need to focus too heavily on anti-aging creams. Just keep the skin hydrated with plenty of water and moisturizer.

For Your Thirties

What you should focus on: trying to reduce anxiety and stress because they wreak havoc on the skin. A lot of women in their thirties are accelerating their careers, getting married, or having kids. All of which can prove to be very stressful. Choose anti-aging products with multiple ingredients like antioxidants and retinoid to help with cell development. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body and gives skin plumpness. When shopping for facial products, make sure it’s listed in the ingredients as well.

What you should avoid: If possible try to allow yourself as much time for sleep. It will not only keep your skin looking fresh but keep the dark circles at bay. You can also start using AHA products that have natural acids in them to help reduce fine lines, wrinkles and increase cell production. It’s a form of exfoliation, and it does fantastic things for your skin. It also makes it easier for your skin to absorb all the amazing anti-aging products by dissolving the dead skin that is sitting on your face.

For Your Forties

What you should focus on: Your collagen levels fluctuate a lot in your forties which means you should invest in a perfect retinoid cream to combat any fine lines or wrinkles. You’ll also want to focus on heavier moisturizers. For most people, our skin dries as we age and becomes sensitive. These issues can lead to red, inflamed skin and a deep, heavy facial cream locks in moisture. Look for one that has ceramides or fatty acids in the ingredients.

What you should avoid: If your skin has become super dry, you can skip the morning face wash if it was a part of your routine. Dry skin looks dull and clogs pores. Additionally, it enhances the appearance of wrinkles which is not something we want. You’ll also want to stop ignoring problem areas. If sunspots or deep wrinkles just don’t dissipate no matter what you do, there are skin laser treatments and injectables that can remove age spots and plump out skin.

If you are ready to talk about a treatment plan for younger, healthier looking skin, call 615-329-900 today! One of our expert members of staff can walk you through the best options available to achieve the results you want! Don’t delay, and book your appointment today!

Biggest Beauty Trends for 2018

Biggest Beauty Trends for 2018

The new year is here, bringing with it fresh beauty trends. 2018 is all about celebrating what you were born with and enhancing what you already have. The focus is shifting to a more natural look in makeup, hair, and cosmetic trends. Below we’ve compiled a list of the top beauty trends people will be requesting and using in 2018.

Natural Makeup

Forget heavy, caked on foundations and powders; celebrities are now minimizing the amount of makeup they apply and focusing instead on their natural features. This means ditching the heavy use of highlighters on the cheeks, nose, and under the eyebrow. The idea is to enhance your natural beauty. You’ll see this look a lot on the red carpet, especially at this year’s Oscars.

The Longer, the Better

Lobs and Bobs will take a back seat because Rapunzel hair is the new length for 2018. The 90’s are back with luscious locks falling to a hip-grazing length and a middle part. If you decided to chop it all off last year, you don’t have to wait years for it to grow out, just invest in some quality hair extensions.

Products The Multi-Task

In 2017, the Korean 10-step beauty routine was a huge hit. It was great for keeping your skin looking healthy and bright, but also an excellent way to pamper yourself. However, in 2018 products will focus on being multitaskers that will promise to fix more than one issue in a single application. They should balance out skin tone, hydrate, and smooth texture.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation continues to be one of the most popular cosmetic procedures, but it looks a little different in 2018. Requests to look like Pamela Andersons or Dolly Parton has tapered off and now, most women prefer the healthy size of Taylor Swift or Jennifer Lawrence. The idea is having enough to work with, without looking like you’ve had any surgery done. Small and perky is the most requested size.

Blondes Have More Fun

The biggest hair color trend for 2018 is all about blondes, but just not the way you think. Instead of applying root to tip, leave the roots dark and style with a tasseled wave for the ultimate look. You’ll also want to skip the bleach because it’s all about a warm, rich tone that compliments your natural glow.

A New Red Lip

A red lip never goes out of style, and this year it’s going to get a new update. You can now sport red lipstick in glitter and metallic. These fresh finishes give lips extra dimension and glamour. Shades vary from deep rich raspberry to a bright cherry which means regardless of your undertones, you can find a shade that works for you.

Face Oil

Coconut and argan oil are fantastic for your face, but 2018 will introduce us to the moringa oil. It mimics the oil your skin naturally produces making it easy to apply to any skin type. It’s lightweight, so it nourishes deeply and works well on dry skin. This oil is also following the multitasking trend by working as an excellent moisturizer for the face, body, and hands.

Acid Peels

Acids peels had a moment in the early 2000’s, and they are making a comeback in two ways. There are gentle at home grades you can apply every day with retinol cream, and then there are the advanced versions you can get done in a Medspa. For example, Vitamin C peel works wonders for treating uneven skin tone, acne, scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles. The Vitamin C Peel sloughs off dead skin leaving you fresh and radiant. This also allows for you skin to better absorb that multitasking product you are using on your face.

Best Procedures to Reduce the Signs of Aging

Reduce Signs of Aging

The easiest way is to start drinking plenty of water and make sure to apply sun screen and moisturizer daily. However, even with meticulous care, frown lines and wrinkles will happen. Because September is National Healthy Aging Month, we want to share with you the best procedures to reduce the signs of aging.

Injectables

Vitamin C Peel

Vitamin C is one of the best-known defenses against free radicals. This peel is an option for anyone who suffers from acne because it deeply cleanses the pores and provides an anti-bacterial action to prevent acne from reappearing. The acid found in Vitamin C also works as a bleaching agent, which can help restore imbalanced skin tone and help fade blemishes.

Vitalize Peel

The Vitalize Peel uses a combination of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Beta Hydroxy Acids), along with Retinol, to give a more corrective exfoliation for the skin. Our most popular facial treatment and suitable for melasma, sun damage, acne, post hyper-inflammatory acne, fine lines and all-over tone and texture of skin. For best results, you should consider a series of three visits.
