A Natural, More Masculine Chest
Gynecomastia is a condition characterized by enlarged breasts due to an overgrowth of tissue. Male breast reduction surgery is a cosmetic surgery procedure that reduces excess glandular tissue and fat to restore a flatter, firmer and more masculine contour to the chest.
Often called “Man Boobs,” it is estimated that gynecomastia affects between 40 to 60 percent of men. Certain drugs, medical problems, and genetics can contribute to male breast enlargement, but there is no confirmed cause in the majority of cases.
For some men losing weight can help reduce the appearance of enlarged breasts. Frequently there is excess glandular tissue as well even for the most slender male patients.
Male breast reduction surgery is an effective, long lasting treatment that reduces the excess tissue, restoring a more masculine and natural contour to the chest.

Male Breast Reduction – What to Expect
During your breast reduction procedure, Dr. Jeffrery Marvel will use a combination of liposuction and direct excision to reduce the fat and glandular tissue from the breast area. The surgery requires general or local anesthesia — depending on the extent of your reduction — and is performed on an outpatient basis. Once the excess tissue is reduced, you will be left with a flatter, firmer chest contour.
Male breast reduction side effects include swelling and discomfort following surgery, which can be controlled with prescription pain medication. You’ll be given an elastic pressure garment that you’ll need to wear for about two weeks following surgery to help reduce the swelling. Once your stitches are reduced (after two weeks), you can resume normal activities. However, strenuous exercise, sexual activity or anything else that may risk a blow to the chest should be avoided.
Cost of Male Breast Reduction
The cost varies by individual patients as each has their own makeup and anatomical configuration as well as goals and objectives. During your consultation, Dr. Marvel will be able to provide you what is involved and its related cost.
