What is a breast lift (Mastopexy)
A breast lift, also known as a Mastopexy, raises and firms breasts by removing surplus skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the breasts.
If you have experienced loss of volume in the upper portion of your breasts due to breastfeeding, aging, or any other factor, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift, also known as mastopexy. Some patients also decide to have breast implants inserted at the same time as their breast lift surgery for optimal results.
Common Reasons for a breast lift:
- After significant weight loss to improve the breast contour
- Following pregnancy and breastfeeding to enhance breast shape
- Correct drooping breasts
Breast Lift – What to Expect
The procedure is performed here in our surgery center. One of our Board Certified Doctors will make an incision on the breast to tighten the skin and raise the height of the nipple, restoring your breast to a more youthful and perky position. The surgical technique hides scarring around the nipple and on the bottom of the breast. The entire procedure lasts about two or three hours.
Following your procedure, most patients report mild to moderate pain, which can be managed with pain medication. Breast lift surgery is an outpatient procedure so that you will return home the same day. You’ll be able to resume light daily activities after one week, and more strenuous activities such as exercise in about two to three weeks.
Our doctors have performed many breast augmentation procedures for patients throughout the Nashville and the Middle Tennessee area.
