Breast Implants

What are Breast Implants?

Have you always wondered what it would be like to have larger breasts? Or perhaps you are yearning to get your pre-baby body back after losing volume in your breasts due to breastfeeding. No matter what the reason, you may want to consider breast implants. Also known as mammoplasty, breast implants are one of the most popular procedures requested by our patients throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

How are Breast Implants Performed?

Once you decide which material you want to use (saline or silicone), as well as the size, the procedure is fairly straightforward. Your surgeon will make an incision where the natural folds of the skin are to minimize the appearance of any scarring. The implant will then be inserted in the appropriate place. Breast implants surgery typically lasts up to two hours, using local or general anesthesia.

Am I a Good Candidate?

The best candidates are those who are in overall good health, who want to increase the size and firmness of their bust, and who have realistic expectations of their results. So whether it’s age, pregnancy or genetics that has done a number on your breasts, you can increase your confidence with a simple breast implants procedure.

What Kind of Post-Operative Care Can I Expect?

The most common side effects following breast implants include soreness, bruising and swelling of the treatment area. You’ll need to wear a surgical bra for a few days following the surgery, during which time you should avoid any strenuous activity or heavy lifting. Some patients have reported a reduced sensation in their nipples following breast implant surgery, but this should subside once healing is complete. Within seven to 10 days, you’ll be back to work and other normal daily activities.
