Chin implant surgery, also known as genioplasty, begins with a small incision made on the inside of the mouth or under the chin to hide any scarring. Your surgeon will place a sizer to determine which size implant will give the best results, and he will then insert the chin implant and close the incision.
Am I a Good Candidate for Chin Implants?
Ideal chin implants patients have a normal dental bite. If you do not have a normal dental bite, more extensive jaw surgery may be required to correct this. Dr. Marvel will go over your medical history with you during your initial consultation, as those with immune system problems, smokers or cardiac problems may not be suitable candidates.
Patients may experience some tightness, soreness, and swelling following surgery. Your surgeon will recommend that you keep your head elevated as much as possible, as this will reduce the swelling. Most of our patients can return to work and normal activities within one week.
What are the Typical Results of Chin Implants?
A successful chin implant procedure can dramatically improve the overall balance of your face. The results are subtle and natural, yet they can yield a dramatic improvement with a stronger profile and a more proportional look.
