Rhinoplasty Nashville, TN
What is a Rhinoplasty?
Nothing has a greater impact on how a person looks than the size and shape of the nose. Since the nose is the most defining characteristic of the face, a slight alteration can greatly improve one’s appearance.
Rhinoplasty is a facial surgical procedure designed to reshape the nose. Sometimes referred to as a “nose job,” it can be performed to correct a structural deformity such as a bump or hook, or to correct a functional problem (such as difficulty breathing due to a deviated septum).
Dr. Marvel has performed countless rhinoplasty procedures for his patients throughout Nashville, Henderson, Smyrna and the surrounding areas. If you’d like to see some of his work, please take a moment to view our rhinoplasty before and after pictures. How is Rhinoplasty Performed?
Nose jobs are typically performed right here in our Nashville, TN, office under general anesthesia. Surgery is performed by making small incisions on the inside of the nose. There are no external incisions. The skin is lifted off of the cartilage and bone, and the nose is then sculpted to the appropriate shape. The skin is then placed back in position and dissolvable sutures are used to close the incisions inside the nose.
The septum is the wall between the two nostrils. Composed of cartilage and bone, it divides the nasal cavity into halves. The ideal nasal septum is straight, separating the left and right sides of the nose into passageways of equal size. In contrast, a deviated septum occurs when the septum is shifted away from the mid-line. In severe cases, a deviated septum may cause difficulty breathing through the nose. But this can all be corrected with a simple rhinoplasty procedure.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Rhinoplasty?
It is also important to consider why you want to have nose surgery. The goal is to improve the nose aesthetically to better balance with the rest of your facial features. Sometimes, breathing is improved at the same time. The best candidates for rhinoplasty are over the age of 14 or 15, and are unhappy with the size, shape, or any other imperfection on their nose.
What Kind of Post-Operative Rhinoplasty Care Can I Expect?
As with most cosmetic surgeries, you’ll want to avoid strenuous activities for several weeks following your nose surgery. And for best results, you should stay out of the sun for up to eight weeks. The most common side effects are bruising and swelling, which will subside over time. In the meantime, you may return to work and normal daily activities if you desire.
What are Rhinoplasty Costs?
Rhinoplasty costs should be discussed with Dr. Marvel during your one-on-one consultation. A nose job is a very individualized procedure, so the extent of the surgery will depend on your specific goals. And, therefore, the prices will reflect that.
